From The Director's Desk
National Library Week, April 23rd-29th, is an annual celebration highlighting the vital and valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. How do we do it? By serving as connecting hubs.
At the Hampton Library, we connect children to early literacy through songs and storytimes such as Mondays at Madoo, led by our wonderful children’s librarians in the gardens of the Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack. What a perfect setting for spring, literacy, and community! In addition to our many weekly offerings, we celebrate special holiday events to bring our community together. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 8th at 10am, for our Annual Egg Hunt, featuring a very furry guest and lots of surprise-filled eggs.
We connect teens to a safe space for homework and events such as Minecraft Club and movie nights. Teens can experience ownership in their library by participating in our monthly Council of Young Adults meetings, which qualify for community service hours.
We connect adults to books through our expert reference librarians and our always helpful circulation staff, and we connect to each other through our language classes, Tai chi sessions, book clubs, and discussion groups. Check out all of our upcoming special events, such as our annual Shred Day, co-sponsored with the Bridgehampton Fire Department, conveniently planned for just after tax time on April 20th.
All of these resources and activities are available thanks to our dedicated and knowledgeable staff, the volunteers on our Board of Trustees and Friends, and most importantly, you, our community members and taxpayers.
Come to the library to connect and celebrate with us!
